Wavestore Digital Video Recorders

The Wavestore range of enterprise level digital video recorders are designed and manufactured within the UK by a highly dedicated team of professional hardware and software development engineers at Wavelet Technology Limited.

All Wavestore units are Linux based, and include built in storage in varying capacities to suit your particular site requirements.

The Wavestore units employ Wavelet compression algorithms, (As adopted by the Joint Photographic Experts Group JPEG2000). Put simply, the video stream is built up from individual high quality full screen images as opposed to conditional refresh techniques that only update areas of the image containing movement (such as MPEG, H.264).

With Wavestore's video, the compression is implemented by the dedicated processors mounted on each of the video input cards, which are available in options to suit client requirements with capture speeds of up to 50 images per second per video channel. This hardware compression technique provides a robust and high performance system with minimal strain on the recorder's main processor.

Conventional composite video cameras can be connected to the input channels of the Wavestore DVR's, with a recording resolution up to 704 x 576 pixels (4CIF). The Wavestore captures all 50 images generated by the analogue camera every second as odd and even fields each at 2CIF resolution (704 x 288).

Higher resolution video images are available from our range of Megapixel cameras, which together with other IP network cameras, can be simultaneously recorded with all of your existing conventional cameras, all in one box.

The flexibility and possibilities are endless.

The flexibility of a hybrid system makes the Wavestore DVR's the ideal upgrade path for your existing CCTV installation, giving you the benefits of high speed, high quality recording for your existing cameras together with the practical and technical advantages of any new IP network and Megapixel cameras that you may wish to add to your system.

Multiple Wavestore machines may be seamlessly integrated together, whether they reside within the same building, or across multiple sites worldwide. All attached cameras are available for viewing and playback remotely across the network, or world wide web (subject to appropriate password protection and access rights etc.)

There no longer needs to be a centralised control room for large scale CCTV installations, these can be from any location that can access the site network, either directly, or via the numerous remote connection techniques.

Multiple control rooms and monitoring points are also possible, which could be set up to meet specific requirements.

As an example, a large scale system may consist of many cameras, located across a large complex. The main security control room would be able to control and view all live images from every camera, whilst a select number of security managers would also have access to the recorded images for review and archive purposes.

All manned security locations could be given rights to view  and possibly control any relevant cameras, such as perimeter, corridor, fire exit and barrier cameras, whilst a production line supervisor could be given access to the live and recorded images of the shop floor and warehouse cameras.

The benefits of an IP based CCTV system is that these will typically employ a site's existing structured wiring system, which greatly reduces the installation costs, and offers a truly flexible system where cameras, monitors and recording resources can be added or relocated with the minimum of effort.

Each Wavestore DVR is equipped with dual ethernet network ports, (one fast ethernet (100Mbps), and one Gigabit port), so it is possible to keep the high data rate IP cameras separate from your site network to ensure that your network bandwidth is not compromised.

Multiple Data Streams

The Wavestore DVR's are equipped with multiple data streams for each video channel.

Advantages here include the ability to record a high frame rate stream to  short term storage, whilst simultaneously recording a lower frame rate stream to long term storage.

The frame rates and storage locations can be independently configured for each of the data streams. By doing exactly this, it is possible to completely eliminate data loss in the event of a hard disk drive failure, all without the need for an expensive mirror disk system.

Wavestore Demonstration Disks

Puls Limited have a large library of sample footage recorded on the Wavestore systems, featuring both conventional, and IP network cameras.

Please request a demonstration disc of the Wavestore system. It would be helpful if you could identify your particular application, so that we can provide you with the most suitable sample footage.

Alternatively, we can arrange an on-site demonstration of the Wavestore digital video recorders.
